Our sincere thanks to you for materials donated to us. Library staff members screen all donated materials for potential addition to the library's collections. Your generosity also helps the Friends of the Library hold successful booksales. Funds raised at these sales support the Children's Summer Reading Program and other valuable library programs.
Books in like-new or good condition are gladly accepted. We also welcome audios, videos, CDs and CD-ROMs. We are unable to accept any magazines. Textbooks must have a copyright newer than 5 years to be accepted.
We accept gifts at any of our library facilities in Davidson County. Please call ahead. Books donated in boxes are most helpful. We are sorry we cannot promise to return empty boxes to you. Due to limited storage space, we are unable to accept more than 5 boxes at a time unless prior arrangements are made. Unfortunately, we are unable to pick up boxes from a person's home or carry boxes into the library from vehicles.
In order for donated materials to be of use to us:
- Books must be intact. We cannot use materials
with yellowed, brittle pages or damaged bindings.
- Books must have no stains or water damage. We cannot use wet or mildewed items.
- Books must not have an odor (examples: cigar, cigarette or musty odor).
- Books must not have excessive notes, highlighting, or underlining in them.
Library staff members are unable to assess the value of donated materials for tax purposes. We will be glad to give you a receipt which will also serve as the acknowledgement of your gift. If you'd like a receipt, please provide us with the number of items donated. |
