There's more to the Nashville Public Library than meets the eye. Touring the library is a great way to become familiar with library programs and services. The library offers tours of Main Library, Children's, Teen, or Civil Rights Room.
Please complete the form below to request your tour and a coordinator will be in touch shortly to discuss. Tours are based on the availability of volunteers. Please allow at least two weeks for your request.
Branch Library Tours
All of our branch libraries welcome groups of children, teens, and adults to explore and learn about their local libraries! Call your branch library to make arrangements for a session that meets your needs.
Main Library Tour
The Main Library Tour is an exciting tour giving an overview of the architecture, services, collections, and art of the Main Library. The Main Library Tour lasts approximately 60 minutes. Maximum group size is 10.
Children's Tour
The Children's Tour is a walkthrough of the Children's Area of the Main Library. This tour highlights the whimsical artwork, various collections of printed and multimedia materials in the division, and the wonderful Children's Theater and Arts and Crafts Room. The Children's Tour lasts approximately 30 minutes. Maximum group size is 30.
Civil Rights Room Tour
The Civil Rights Tour is an exploration of Nashville's role in the Civil Rights movement of the 1950's and 1960's by discussion of the Civil Rights Room, photographs, and timelines. Tour is appropriate for all ages. The full tour lasts approximately 90 minutes, but can be shortened upon request. Maximum group size is 40.
Teen Tour
The Teen Tour is a high energy and fast paced tour of the entire building filled with quirky details to keep students on their toes. The tour focuses on library resources for teens, with special emphasis on the Teen Area, Civil Rights Room, and the Art Gallery. The full tour lasts approximately 60 minutes, but can be shortened upon request. Maximum group size is 40.
