Librarian 1
Applications are always accepted from current Librarian 1 candidates or new graduates of a Masters degree in Library Science or Library Information Sciences. The degree must be from an accredited college or university that has an MLS program approved by the American Library Association. Click here to apply online. List Librarian 1 in the section “position applying for:” and # C12 as the recruitment #. Your application will be added to a Civil Service eligibility list for one year and candidates are contacted for consideration for specific openings throughout our system.

Part-time positions
Applications (blue) are available at the check-out desk at any library location. You may attach a resume and mail to the Nashville Public Library, Attention: Human Resources, 615 Church Street, Nashville TN 37219, or return to a branch library. Part-time applications/resumes are maintained in the Library's Human Resources office. Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews. Part-time applications/resumes are kept on file for six (6) months. Contact Sande Johnson at 615-880-2118 for questions regarding application procedures.

Full-time positions

Definitions

Part-time employment - Less than 32 hours per week; most positions are budgeted for 20 hours per week and require working evenings and weekends; enrollment in health, dental, life and pension plans is optional for positions budgeted at 20 hours per week or greater. If part-time position is budgeted for less than 20 hours per week, there are no benefits.

Full-time employment - 40 hours per week; depending upon position, applicant should be available to work any day of the week and begin as early as 8:30 a.m. or work as late as 8:00 p.m.; benefits include: medical, dental, life and pension; 10 vacation days per year (increasing after 5 years), 12 sick days per year and 10 paid holidays.
