The Main Library's Art Gallery and Courtyard Gallery presents exhibitions that promote access to and stimulate interest in a wide variety of ideas. The galleries are open during the regular library hours. Admission is free and the public is welcome to all events.

Cameras and Canvas: Nashville from the Air

This year marks the 105th anniversary of the first night flight in the United States, which occurred in Nashville. The exhibit will feature aerial photographs of Nashville in the 1930s, aircraft photographs and artifacts from the era.
Reinvention: The Mail Art Show

Main Library, Wilson Room
Submitted through international postal systems from around the world, the collection is more than 460 entries in the form of collages, rubber stamps, original work and 3D pieces. The theme "Reinvention" helped inspire the participants.
Main Library is one of many locations that will display the unique art. Visit the show's blog to view the art and for updates.
After the show, the exhibit will be donated to the Special Collections department at Vanderbilt University.
Eudora Welty: Photographs from the 1930s and '40s

Eudora Welty is one of America's most celebrated and beloved authors. Before gaining fame through her writing, she was an aspiring photographer whose photographs from the 1930s and '40s have since become modern day classics.
This exhibition, with support from the Eudora Welty Foundation, focuses on Welty's most productive period as a photographer and features a large selection of vintage prints from the collection of the Welty family.
