Doris Kearns Goodwin to receive Nashville Public Library Literary Award (2009)

Goodwin to give public lecture prior to receiving award

Doris Kearns Goodwin, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian will discuss her career and work at a free public lecture celebrating her 2009 Nashville Public Library Literary Award. Saturday, November 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Library. Doors open at 9 a.m.; seating is first come, first served.

Ms. Goodwin will receive the award during a black-tie gala organized by the Nashville Public Library Foundation that is set for Saturday, November 7 at Nashville’s downtown Main Library.

About the Award and Gala:

The Nashville Public Library Literary Award was first given in 2004 to recognize distinguished authors and other individuals for their contributions to the world of books and reading. The award brings outstanding individuals to Nashville to honor their achievements, to benefit the library and to promote books, literacy and reading. It carries with it a substantial honorarium. Previous winners: David Halberstam (2004), David McCullough (2005), John Updike (2006), Ann Patchett (2007), John Irving (2008).
