Services: Interlibrary Loan

Borrowing Guidelines

Notice: We are suspending requests for A/V materials (including DVDs, CDs, and Books on Tape). All current requests, received prior to Monday, July 13, 2009, will be honored.

Books, newspapers on microfilm and magazine articles can be requested by filling out one of the following forms or by calling Interlibrary Loan at 615.862.5780, 9:00-5:00 weekdays.

There is a limit of 5 requests per library card at any one time.

You must have a Davidson County Library card in good standing in order to request Interlibrary Loan material.

The following materials are not available through Interlibrary Loan:

  • Books, Magazines, Audio Visual Material and Government Documents at any branch of the Nashville Public Library.
  • Reference material at any branch of the Nashville Public Library.
  • Audio Visual materials (including DVDs, CDs, and Books on Tape)

Interlibrary Loan requests are generally available in 2 to 3 weeks, but in some cases may take up to 4 weeks or longer to arrive.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How will I be notified when my material is available?
    You will be notified by email, phone or U.S. mail when an item has arrived. Please pick up your materials as soon as possible so that you will have adequate time to use them.
  • Where do I return my materials?
    Interlibrary Loan Materials may be returned to any branch of the Nashville Public Library. Please return Interlibrary Loan materials only during business hours. Do not place Interlibrary Loan materials in book drops or remove the white information band.
  • Can I renew my material?
    For renewals contact Interlibrary Loan at 615.862.5780 on or before the due date. If an item is not renewable it will be noted on the white information band.
