Teen Songwriting Contest

If you’re a teen songwriter, and you didn’t participate in Nashville Public Library’s first ever teen songwriting contest, you missed out!

What better way to celebrate the craft of songwriting than to have a concert! On Thursday, April 19th those contestants who were able to attend graced our auditorium stage with a performance of one of their songs.

Special Guests

Headlining the show were some of Nashville’s own hit songwriters!

Steve Dean has co-written six # 1 hits, including “Walk On” for Reba McEntire and “Round About Way” for George Strait. He performs all around the country doing “In the Round” songwriter shows.

Thom Shepherd wrote the #1 hit song Riding with Private Malone, but is best known for Redneck Yacht Club, which was a # 1 hit for Craig Morgan.

John Schweers has written 13 # 1 hit songs, including “Daydreams About Night Things” recorded by Ronnie Milsap.

  • Pam Belford - NPL staff member and #1 hit songwriter. Pam Belford is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She has songs cut by George Strait.
  • J. C. Monterosa - Recording engineer.
  • Taylor Braun - Teen songwriter, "Songwriters USA."
